Lake Cauma is, without any doubt, right at the top of the must-visit attractions in Switzerland. Just look-up this amazing place and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with the place in no-time.

We visited the lake in September and the weather was a bit cold, but we still enjoyed the sun.

There is a parking place just half a kilometer from the lake, and from there, you can reach the lift that takes you directly to the lake.

Or, if you’re feeling fit, you can continue to go down to the lake, without using the lift, it’a about 1.5 kilometers from the parking lot by foot.

That’s the true color of the lake. I know, right? It’s such a calm and relaxing place.

In summertime, the lake’s water is excellent to swim in. The beach at Lake Cauma is open from 25 May to 20 October 2019. Staring with 9 September, the beach is open without admission.

Entrance price for adults is 15 CHF and 7.5 CHF for children (6 – 16 years).

You can explore the lake by pedal boat, swim to the little island in the middle, or even try your best on a paddle board.

But don’t wait until summer, the lake is a great choice no matter the season. In September, we really enjoyed our walk around the lake and made a lot of pictures. Take your time to relax on one of the sunbeds by the lake and admire the views and tranquility.

Stop by for lunch at the restaurant by the lake, it has amazing views over the lake and surroundings. Check their website for more details.

Don’t forget to also check out Flims which also has some incredible views, so be sure to stop for that Instagram photo.

Now that you are still in the area, don’t go home yet, there’s one more stop that we must make 😉

Did you know about the Swiss Grand Canyon??

Ruinaulta canyon was made by the river Rhine, which made its way through the limestone between Ilanz and Reichenau.

We took the following route by car and stopped whenever we had the chance: Flims – Ilanz – Valendas – Versam – Bonaduz – Tamins.

Bonus: It’s a popular location for rafting.

If there is still time, you should also spend a few hours in beautiful city of Chur.

We missed it, but it’s on our list for the next visit.

Have an amazing day!
